29 going on 30

I kinda enjoy having afternoon tea alone, it's healthier than shopping like crazy after a lot of bullsh*s from your everyday life. 

Yes, I got a pair of new glasses. And somehow I feel like a part of high fashion! Speaking of high fashion, I really need to stop buying luxurious accessories. I finally got me a beautiful ring of Cassandra logo at Saint Laurent, and that's all, I am done with big name brands! Bye bye! FENDI, Gucci, Burberry and Saint Laurent 

Annnnnnd, I got old.  It was really nice to celebrate my 29-year-old birthday with a good friend, and this little surprise cake. Don't like the number "29", so I am 30 year old now.

I finally got to try a red velvet cake on my birthday. I know, I know I have drawn red velvet cupcakes several times, but wow, now I know why people are crazy about it.

Cara is amazingly beautiful, I will never be tired of drawing her again. I figured watercolor works pretty good on human portraits, next time I may draw Ezra Miller.

an absolutely different look

After nearly 8 years, I finally got me a new pair of glasses. Yay!

I will get the glasses on Wednesday, and I guess I will look totally different, maybe more stylish?

3 more days til my 29-year-old birthday, well I've been too busy to think about it, but it is still nice to have a good friend celebrate with me. (Love you! Cosiya)

The cone doesn't look so yummy I know, like the ice cream cone you got from a ice cream cart at some tourist attraction. lol  I wanted to draw a melting one, but  it was like EVERY ARTIST has already drawn that. So, I decided to try something different, plus, there was more to study from an ice cream cone like this. 

I finally got to get my mom some Laduree macaroons 'cos they currently opened a store at Breeze Center. I am happy my mom actually liked them a lot! :)

Rose petal and Orange Blossom. We both liked Rose Petal better! Got two more to try tonight: Caramel with Salted Butter and Pistachio! 

My new favorite fragrance! So me!

22 days after - busy, busier and busiest

Really, I've been too busy to tell what day today is. This is somehow a good thing to me, because I need a break from the previous relationship and a lot of b******t out of it. I know, I know there is a cute guy sitting behind me at work, a tall, handsome, well-mannered guy, who went to a top university. (cough) Anyways, he's my colleague and that's all.

Here's the only painting I did last week.

This was the first time I did a painting with acrylic pigment, which made the painting in a stronger "3-D" effect. The whipped cream in the painting looks like a real whipped cream! 

Not sure if it's just the dessert looks way too fantastic, I figure I didn't draw it good enough. What do you think?

about my project...

3rd week at my new job, busy and fast-paced. This morning, I just noticed a friend of my ex started following me on Instagram, and of course, I blocked her right away, without viewing any of her photos. Not sure what her intention was, but I am really SICK of anything related to him!  

Maybe it is too early to talk about my project right now because I just started working on it, but somehow, the idea of this project actually came from the break-up with my ex.

I don't think I will be able to have my art book printed and sold by a publisher. So, I am just gonna make ONLY ONE art book, as a portfolio. Sounds good?  

Oktoberfest at Wendel's was awesome! Too much meat but never had enough beer!

I swear this is the last item of my birthday present! I won't get to celebrate my birthday overseas like I did in the past years, so I am literally making it up!

indie girl's life - 5 days after

It has been a long week, I hate being a newbie.

I took the job offer from this travel agency and declined an interview from a PR company based in Germany, and, the 2nd interview from THAT local PR company. Oh yea, apparently I passed the 1st interview. (rolling my eyes)

It was a hard decision because I had been wanting a PM job, however, it is harder to find a good boss like I said. So, that's it.

And this is how I treated myself.

Well this is the most efficient way to make a woman happy and relaxed.

Hello! Duty on the weekend

Even though I've been busy with my job and shopping, I still tried to make time for my current project - watercolor paintings of fragrances. As to my canvas bag painting, unfortunately I have to postpone the project because I know it's going to take a lot of work.

For now I can only do one piece a week because I really don't have much time for myself. Hopefully, I will be able to finished this project before my birthday NEXT YEAR. I really wanna publish my own art book, or prints. 

Anyway, wish me good luck at work! 

your dream job

I got a job offering from our competitor, a local travel agency. So, if I take this job I will be working as an in-door sales representative.

Honestly, the pay is not bad, and you get to receive your bonus every three months. The only thing I am concerned is the annual leave, which is very important to me because I HAVE TO travel abroad twice every year. For that reason, 7 days are definitely not enough and that's why I am still struggling.

Then again, it is really, really hard to have a good boss...along with a decent salary.

To take or not to take, that is the question. So let's stop here.

I finally started drawing after a long, long time, annnnnnd I had not "officially" given up on portrait, so here it is.

And I decided to buy something I really wanted with a little part of my severance pay.

back to the reality, aka, hell

Yes, I am back from Singapore. I had a blast during my stay, but right now I am not in the mood for travel notes here because I HAVE NOT got a job yet.

Job-hunting is something really, really exhausting and frustrating I know, and you know it too. It is even harder for people in their late twenties.

Fyi, I am 29 years old.

Ambitious yet confused, people in this age are always proficient, however, most of them do not have specific life goals and enough experiences. So, when it comes to job-hunt, they are in the group labelled "incompetent".

Last week I had an interview at a big-name PR company for a project manager position. Not sure if it was just me getting old, this 3-hour interview was extremely exhausting , that consisted psychometrics, English test and a dialogue with the HR executive.

When I told him I only used the basic Excel functions making reports(because our BSS did most of the work), he paused. It looked like they needed someone who could executive immediately, i.e, they did not want to spend any time training a new staff. If it is just like what I figured out, they had better have some head-hunter recruit a candidate that meets their qualifications. Come on, I was not applying for a director position.

This is pathetic, here, creative(and hardworking) people are not always given chances to dedicate their life to things that they do not just work for live. It is hard to think positive, really.

indie girl's life - energy-refilling trip

The day before my trip to Singapore, I am still working on my English bio. (Yes, I am using a present participle)

In addition to my resume and bio, or cover letter whatever, I've got a lot things to be done: souvenir shopping, money changing, Traveler's Insurance, baggage packing..., thank God I do not need a visa to visit.

Talking about Traveler's Insurance, my ex is an American who does not have insurance back in his country, U, S and A.  And he was NEVER aware of the importance of insurance for his overseas traveling! I will say he was lucky. If he got a car accident during his trip, he would have to pay a huge amount of medical expense and got NOTHING back. Wrong! HIS PARENTS, who were in their late 60s would have to pay for him, because he did not have much in his bank account.

What can I say? I hate being around stupid people, and I know he will say the same thing, because stupid people never realize they are actually the stupid ones. Ha! I DO enjoy cursing and laughing at my ex, very fun and always reminds me not to date same type of man again.

I finally unboxed my vintage My Little Pony! I tried to make it looked like a fairy pony in the forest...with my mom's collection of succulent plants.

My friend Sidney said it looked like an alien welcoming her to Cactus Planet. Was she talking about MIB2?

And this is my baby boy, the man I love the most in the world. Can't imagine leaving him for a week. :(

This only drawing I did for this week. A lot of my friends like it but, not good enough to me. I failed to do it with the right colors and the texture of the dumpling did not show up good. The only part I am happy with is probably the oil drop on the chopstick. If I ever draw same type of things again, I will try watercolor.
